Lauren Caisley Interiors is an Interior Architecture & Design studio specialising in luxury interiors throughout the UK and overseas, for developers and private clients alike.

A Luxury Victorian Family Home

 

Amongst the hustle and bustle of central London, we found this gorgeous corner Victorian family home in need of full refurbishment. Our clients, a young family with two boys, engaged us for a complete interior architectural service, interior design plus styling. We worked with our clients existing artwork to find a balance, creating this fun, luxurious and welcoming home. LCI installed two new bathrooms, a new bespoke kitchen, commissioned a specialist furniture painter to restore a baby bureau in the living room and painted internal walls in deep green hues. One of our highlights is the Kid's Bathroom; we used encaustic tiles to create drama and then balanced it with traditional dark panelling and wood flooring. Mixed with quirky artwork and fresh flowers, this room has sparked national media interest and featured in publications nationwide.

The most stunning light floods through this kitchen space into the snug. We used an Indian granite for the worktop - much to my surprise as I hadn’t thought about working with granite (have always found it to be dated) however the marbling in this southern Indian stone worked perfectly with the simple light kitchen to give contrast and texture. Especially with the freshly cut soft blush David Austin roses from garden. We’re soaking up the newborn bubble over here. Lots of skin to skin, family time just us 3 and Bud. What a whirlwind it is to be thrown into parenthood - who says you need sleep anyway!? Last night I managed 4 hours and today I feel like a new woman! #lifeofanewmummy 🙌🏻

The Old School 🧡 I’ve been waiting to show you all this beautiful project. Constructed in a Grade II listed old Victorian school, we were engaged for full interior architecture, interior design and final styling. I wanted to retain the character of the property while bringing a fresh feel to the Interiors. We made sure we had enough vintage artwork mixed in with contemporary tiling and a new use of space. Shoot photos due back next week for this wonderful project at The Old School. Look at the light flooding through this kitchen. We rearranged three walls to enhance the structure of the space, removed the flat ceiling and went up into the pitch on the roof. I added a stained glass window that now features through the top landing into the kitchen to add interested and another light source, all with new ceiling windows. We kept the original school door (not seen in this pic) which ties the whole room together. I cannot wait to show you all the rest 🙌🏻
Time to put my feet up! #37weeks and officially starting my maternity leave 🙌🏻 Phew what a whirlwind few weeks we’ve had wrapping up our projects onsite and making sure the ones we’re working with are all set for a couple of months without me. Feeling very strange about relinquishing control until January but also cannot wait to have a few months of chill time with the baby and Nick. I’ve been reading lots of posts recently about women who run their own businesses and the natural pulls between finding a successful balance of being mum and being the boss. Hoping it will fall into place for us over here - feeling very grateful to NB who’s taking a few months off too so we can all relax at the start of this mad adventure! We spent the whole day in labour ward last week as we thought it was starting, false alarm - just the baby moving so far into my pelvis that it’s excruciating every time the wriggler (as it’s known over here) moves around. Roll on the next 2 weeks! So come on then - who’s got the tips and tricks to try and relax on your maternity leave?
